Talisman Sessions
“The term ‘talisman,’ from telesma (Greek) and tilsam (Arabic), has traditionally been defined as a magical object that is believed to repel harmful or evil forces. According to this view, a talisman is more interesting for what it does rather than what it represents or how it looks.”
What is the aim of a Talisman Session?
A Talisman Session is meant to explore a person’s inner landscape, encapsulating an aspect of the self that they want to befriend or know better, then create a place for it to live outside of the body. In this case, that place is a custom painting.
A session could be aimed at remembering, honoring, grieving, or having fun. It could focus on shadow, light, transcendence or embodiment. The realm of the human experience is vast, and so are the possibilities of a Talisman Session.
The painting that emerges is given to you to as an object that holds the frequency of the session. Your relationship to the piece will develop and change over time. You may find that it has a capacity to hold things for you. You might prefer to sit with the painting in a private ritual, or hang it in your home and invite others to have their own experience with it. It’s truly up to you how you relate to this magical piece, and how to use it for your own process. In this way it becomes your personal talisman.
What happens in a Talisman Session?
We will sit down in my private studio or meet over zoom. A session begins with a moment of silence, then a candle is lit and we begin. You might start with naming an intention, a question, or an aspect of self you want to explore. Besides holding space, my participation inside of this container is mainly asking questions. I use a notepad and the blank canvas to catch notes and shapes. If I get a strong visual or verbal cue, I might offer it to the exchange. In this way, the container is a collaboration. I trust the other to go where they are ready to go, and to share what they are ready to share. Everything shared in the container is confidential. Once it feels complete, the candle is extinguished and the container is closed. I create the painting over the following weeks.
Price is determined by canvas size. Payment is due in full before the date of the session.

“Working with Heidi on a Talisman piece was a deeply reflective and illuminating experience. From the start, she asked insightful questions that helped me deepen my focus. I felt completely safe in her hands, and her approach allowed me to integrate meaningful experiences more fully into my life. The final painting is not only a beautiful representation of this journey but also a lasting artifact of the new understanding and heart-opening insights I gained. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I reached out, but the experience exceeded my hopes. I highly recommend this process for anyone seeking deeper insight into themselves and the universe. ”
